What do we do?Local footpath walk

Organize a variety of walks

We have a varied programme of walks. Car & Coach Rambles are organised for the first Saturday of each month. Shorter Local Footpath Walks using the wealth of footpaths in the Bolton area are organised on the second Sunday of each month. These shorter walks are almost always accessible by public transport and provide a great way to get into walking as well as exploring the countryside in and around Bolton. Longer local walks of between 9-12 miles on the 3rd weekend. Also weekly short walks of 4-5 miles each Thursday starting from Horwich Leisure Centre and Summer evening walks. Click on the relevant Walks Page Button to get the details.

Local Footpath WorkWork in progress

Our Footpath Liaison officer, Ron Thatcher, works with the Bolton MBC to scrutinize all planning applications in which there are issues with the local Rights of Way. The Ramblers Association is committed to keeping these open, and in good condition. The Bolton Ramblers Group organise a monthly maintenance programme for footpaths in the Bolton area.
