Sunday Coach Rambles
Wat’s Dyke Way Heritage Trail is a new 61 mile walk through the border country between England and North Wales.
Wat’s Dyke is a major earthwork, thought to have been built by the Mercians in the Dark Ages as a defensive boundary rampart to keep out the Welsh. It runs from Llanymynech close to the Powys/Shropshire border to Basingwerk Abbey Close to the Dee Estuary at Holywell. The A walks will follow the route from start to finish; the B walks are a shortened version. More information can be got by visiting the website at www.watsdykeway.org.The site also includes a sketch map of the whole route
In March 2010 we will start a series of 3 one-off walks beginning with the Limestone Link from Arnside to Kirby Lonsdale, followed in April by circular walks in Crummack Dale, West Yorkshire.
